Mr. Michael Karwatka

Michael J. Karwatka attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1995 with a commission in the Field Artillery. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina in the positions of Company Fire Support Officer, Battery Fire Direction Officer, and Battery Executive Officer. He was then assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as the Battalion Fire Support Officer. He left active duty in 2001 and pursued a career in civil service.

His civil service experience includes Branch Chief at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center, Division Chief of the Field Artillery Division, Army Evaluation Center, G-5 for U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity (AMSAA), Lead for the Army Materiel Command’s (AMC) Analysis Group at Aberdeen Proving Ground and now the Chief of Staff for the DEVCOM Analysis Center. He is currently in the Delaware Army National Guard and has served in various command and staff positions.

He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, the Field Artillery Advanced Course, Combined Arms & Services Staff School, and Command & General Staff College Intermediate Level Education. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a master’s degree in engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College receiving a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.

He is a resident of Bel Air, Maryland where he lives with his wife and three children.
